Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a group of complex genetic conditions that affect an individual’s ability of socialization. Although the exact cause of the disorder has not been identified, the protein DISC1 has been reported to be associated with autism, in addition to its role in CMD (see above). DISC1 forms large insoluble aggregates that deplete the amount of the functional for of DISC1 in the cell.
