Current projects

An important focus of our lab is the analysis of biomarkers that can improve the prognosis and diagnosis of amyloidoses or proteinopathies and facilitate drug development for them. In this context, we are particularly interested in biomarker measurement in extracellular vesicles (EVs) originating in the CNS and isolated from peripheral biofluids, such as serum and plasma. We also study how EVs mediate the transfer of biological material among cells and the consequences of such delivery.

Another major project in our lab is the development of “Molecular Tweezers” as novel drug candidates for proteinopathies.
