About
Sophia is an undergraduate student majoring in Neuroscience. After her experience playing the piano at a retirement home where she interacted with various patients who suffered from neurodegenerative diseases, she witnessed how music could bridge gaps in memory, communication, and awareness. This experience inspired her to delve deeper into the science behind brain function and disease. Sophia joined the Bitan Lab in Spring 2025 and is currently working on a collaboration project that studies how structural modifications influence tau aggregation in tauopathies.
