Saiya Shah is an undergraduate student at UCLA majoring in Computational and Systems Biology with a minor in Data Science Engineering. Her passion for neurodegenerative disease research was sparked by her uncle’s battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), inspiring her to explore the intersection of computation and biology in understanding these complex disorders. In the summer of 2024, she joined the Bitan Lab, where she is leveraging data-driven techniques to identify biomarkers that differentiate neurodegenerative diseases.
