Hiroto Nakano is a neurologist specializing in neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. He was a member of the Department of Neurology at the Kanazawa University Graduate School of Medical Sciences and worked at Kanazawa University Hospital until 2024. As a clinician, he has published several case reports on patients with neurodegenerative diseases. His research work has involved fundamental experiments using synthetic Aβ42 and α-synuclein to investigate fibril formation at the single-fiber level. In the Bitan laboratory, he is training in biological methods to isolate extracellular vesicles from patient samples, such as serum and plasma, aiming to develop reliable biomarkers for dementia patients.
