Marie Khijniak is an undergraduate student at UCLA majoring in Neuroscience. She was introduced to the field of neurodegenerative diseases after taking a class at UCLA where she learned the different pathologies of neurological disorders, as well as becoming involved in an organization that focused on helping raise money for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. Through this experience, she became more interested in learning about the possible diagnosis through pathological symptoms, and clinical treatments for these neurological disorders. She joined the Bitan Lab in Spring 2023 and is working on a project that explores the possibility of using biomarkers to differentiate among neurodegenerative diseases.
