Borna is an undergraduate student at UCLA majoring in Biochemistry. She was first introduced to Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and other neurodegenerative diseases through working as an Aide at a physical therapy clinic. After learning about the physical manifestations of neurodegenerative diseases, she became interested in the underlying biology and chemistry of such diseases and in biomarker-based diagnostic research. She joined the Bitan Lab in the Summer of 2025 and is working on a project that studies neuronal extracellular vesicle isolation as a source of brain biomarkers.
